Built: 2026-10-20
Position (Jeff, 2026-10-20): the data is public, and public facts do not require a license. The shape dimensions and section properties in this dataset are standardized facts (a W14X90's area and moment of inertia are what they are, whoever measures them). Facts are not copyrightable subject matter; the dataset records the facts, restructured into Accumath's own table, with AISC named as the source. No part of AISC's workbook file, text, or presentation is redistributed.
The complete text presented with the data is the DISCLAIMER in the workbook's Readme sheet ("AISC Shapes Database v16.0, Readme File, August 2023"), reproduced word for word:

aisc.org/shapesdatabase links the workbook file
aisc-shapes-database-v160-2.xlsx, served from AISC's own file host
(cloud.aisc.org). No fallback or mirror source was needed or used.source column in the CSV reads: AISC Shapes Database v16.0.Total rows in CSV: 1,172 (plus header), 50 columns.
| Type | Rows | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| W | 289 | All W shapes in the database — the complete wide-flange family. H-columns are not a separate AISC family: the heavy W series used as columns (W14, W12, W10, W8 column shapes) are included within these 289 rows. |
| HSS_round | 189 | All round HSS in the database (classified by a published outside diameter, OD). |
| HSS_rect | 525 | All rectangular and square HSS in the database (classified by published outside height Ht / width B). |
| C | 32 | All American Standard Channels in the database (bonus family — the database structure made inclusion trivial). |
| L | 137 | All single angles in the database (same reason). |
M (16), S (28), HP bearing piles (22), MC miscellaneous channels (40), WT/MT/ST structural tees (289/14/28), 2L double angles (639), and PIPE (51 — a separate AISC type, not HSS; standard pipe sizes were not part of this task). Each can be added later from the same source file under the same conventions.
AISC_Manual_Label column (e.g., W12X26, HSS16.000X0.375, HSS6X6X3/8,
C12X20.7, L6X6X1/2). AISC stores the separator as an uppercase "X" in that
column; it is preserved exactly as stored.notes column: AISC's database carries a T_F flag for W shapes;
per the database Readme, for W shapes the flag means the flange thickness
tf > 2 in. Rows with the flag carry the note "Flange thickness tf > 2 in.
(AISC T_F flag in source database)". All other rows have an empty notes cell.depth_in/depth_mm hold the database's d (overall width of
the shorter leg, per the AISC Readme variable definitions);
second_leg_in/second_leg_mm hold b (the longer leg);
angle_thickness_* holds the leg thickness t. Section properties are for
the database's x and y axes, copied as published.hss_wall_nom_* is the nominal wall thickness (tnom) and
hss_wall_des_* is the design wall thickness (tdes). AISC's tabulated HSS
section properties are the database's published values; design of HSS per the
AISC Specification uses the design thickness.designation, type, depth_in, depth_mm, flange_width_in, flange_width_mm, flange_thickness_in, flange_thickness_mm, web_thickness_in, web_thickness_mm, second_leg_in, second_leg_mm, angle_thickness_in, angle_thickness_mm, hss_od_in, hss_od_mm, hss_height_in, hss_height_mm, hss_width_in, hss_width_mm, hss_wall_nom_in, hss_wall_nom_mm, hss_wall_des_in, hss_wall_des_mm, weight_lb_per_ft, weight_kg_per_m, area_in2, area_mm2, Ix_in4, Ix_10e6_mm4, Sx_in3, Sx_10e3_mm3, Zx_in3, Zx_10e3_mm3, rx_in, rx_mm, Iy_in4, Iy_10e6_mm4, Sy_in3, Sy_10e3_mm3, Zy_in3, Zy_10e3_mm3, ry_in, ry_mm, J_in4, J_10e3_mm4, Cw_in6, Cw_10e9_mm6, notes, source
